How to nail the recession (1)
In the last year alone, nail polish sales have risen by a whopping 54 per cent when overseas markets are facing some of the toughest economical times.
Previously, we used the "lipstick index" based on the theory that when money was tight, most women chose to update their look with a bold new pout, however nail polishes have now surpassed lippies on the beauty counters.
And this isn't just an overseas trend - around Australia women are flocking more and more to mani bars to put a little spring in their step. We'll admit it - a quick mani/pedi with a girlfriend is a nice afternoon pick-me-up, and dropping a few dollars on the latest shade gives us an instant face-lift (without breaking the bank).
If you're looking for something extra sparkly to try out this weekend - and you can't afford the real diamonds - then try a shade from the new OPI Muppets range. Our favourite is the glitzy OPI Rainbow Connection (left), $19.95 (1800 358 999) which is on counters now. What's your feel-good shade?
