Score a professional blowdry yourself. In 15 minutes. Winner!
International artistic director for Toni and Guy, Richard Mannah, shows you how in five steps…
1. Start by working a blowdrying agent into towel-dried hair. If you have fine hair, try a volume spray of mousse. Either way, always use a heat protectant.
2. Blast-dry your hair until it’s 80 per cent dry. Depending on the thickness, this should take five to 10 minutes. Then take big sections of hair and, using a metal brush, start to smooth the sections, working from underneath.
3. For volume, pull strands away from the head as you go. For a sleek, flat blowdry, work downwards all the way through. Make sure the nozzle is on the dryer so you have more control.
4. Run a hot iron over the top layers to smooth them. Add finishing product from the mid-lengths to ends.
5. If you have fly-aways on top, spritz a little hairspray onto a paddle brush and lightly flatten the roots and crown.
Tip: If you have curlier, thicker hair, take slightly smaller sections when drying.
