Question:
My boyfriend has openly expressed that he has a tendency to bottle his feelings up. We had a fight recently, and when I asked what bothered him about me - he said, "When I blow up, you'll just have to deal with it." How do I deal with this?
Answer:
Sara, don't fret! What you are actually describing is a common problem with the male species – their unfortunate (and often frustrating) inability to open up. Most women deal with this at some point or another, and often it's something some men aren't able to change. But remember this: no matter how much cajoling or pushing you do, its actually only going to make it worse! With time, he'll learn that by actually sharing his feelings with you, it will make for a better relationship. But until then, you just have to sit tight and tell him you're there to support him no matter what.
