Five steps to a perfect wedding
Plan and delegate. In the lead-up, it definitely helps to be as organised as possible. It may sound like a no-brainer to some, but if you have all your ducks in a row before the dawning of the big day, it's bound to run much smoother. Write yourself a comprehensive to-do list (or rip out theCosmo BrideWedding Planner from your current issue). If it's all written down and accounted for, chances are you won't get to your bridal waltz and realise you forgot to organise a DJ. Also, enlist the help of your bridal party, family and talented friends where you can. This way, you'll stay cool, calm and collected while being much more efficient.
Be yourself. When it comes to any wedding-related decisions, stick to the things that reflect you and your fiancé's tastes. If you're a low-key chick, picking an intimate beachside venue and wearing a flowing, elegant yet simple dress will probably make you feel right at home. Or if you're more of a glamour diva, a glitzy grand affair and breathtaking ball gown might be more your thing. So make choices to create a celebration that says "you". If you feel like yourself on your day (albeit, a more polished version of yourself), you're going to be happy.
Go with the flow. If there are any little hiccups in your plans, e.g. it rains and you've planned an outdoor ceremony or the flowers you want aren't available on the day, just take it in your stride. There's no point worrying about things out of your control. Trust your wedding suppliers to adapt to situations like this. Your venue should have a wet-weather back-up area for your ceremony, and your florist can still make beautiful bouquets with similar flowers to the ones you originally wanted. Laugh off any mishaps and, when you get the chance, enjoy a cuddle with your new hubby to melt away any dramas.
Smile. Well, duh, you say. But it can be easy to forget if nerves and excitement take over or if you're worrying that your flower girl will miss her cue to step out onto the aisle. A smiling bride is a beautiful one - she always looks radiant and natural, particularly in candid photos.
Remember what it's all about. You and him. Your love and your union. At the end of the day, that's what matters. If you both end up with rings on your fingers, hand in hand, you'll have your blissful happy ending.
