Meet the covergirl: Vanessa Hudgens
Loved our interview with Vanessa Hudgens in this month's issue? Here's the rest of it...
Let's talk about Beastly. The movie is almost
like Beauty and the Beast. What do you think is the beauty and the
beast of fame in your career?
Oh my goodness, I could go on and on. The good is that
people know me from what I've been doing and they enjoy it. I love
doing what I do, so the thought that they like it is a plus. Oh,
and the free stuff! But the downside is fame itself. The paparazzi
are such a nuisance. I wish I didn't let it bother me as much, but
sometimes I feel defeated when they get a picture of me. That's
definitely the downside.
How was the kissing scene with your co-star Alex
Pettyfer?
It was good. It was really interesting because of the
makeup with the mask and the prosthetics. When you strip a person
their looks, it's like they change. Their whole demeanour is
different. The way they carry themselves is different.
Do you think men are feeling the same pressure now to
look good?
I think women get the pressure more because when men age,
it's sexy. They get have their gray hair. When women age, its
perceived in Hollywood that they need a lift and they need a tuck,
and yadda yadda. So I think the pressure is on women. But at the
same time, it depends on who you are. I know some guys that are
more vain than some girls.
Do you miss working with the High School
Musical cast?
Yeah, it was a lot of fun. I miss the whole cast. When I
think of that movie, it literally is the epitome of my childhood.
As soon as I finished, I feel like I graduated and became an adult.
I miss it so much. In the first movie, we were all just kids
running around singing and dancing and having the time of our
lives. Now, we're all grown up and have responsibilities. I think
we're going to try to have a reunion really soon.
Would you ever have any work done?
I don't know. It would really depend. I'm already
starting to use anti-aging. You might as well start sooner than
later because products are really amazing these days. That's
another good beauty tip.
Growing up in front of the cameras, has it been
hard?
Yes, of course. I set foot in front of the camera when I
was, like, 12 - I did my first movie. It's weird, but
at the same time, I kind of love it because I'm the worst at taking
pictures. I never take pictures, so now I can be, like, "Oh, I was
13 in this movie. I was 14 in this movie." It's my very own video
album.
