Ruby Rose trashes Katy Perry’s song “Swish Swish” because it's probably about Taylor Swift

Somewhere, Taylor is renewing Ruby’s squad membership.

Rule no. 435 of #SquadLife is defending your squad leader when the leader is the possible subject of a new song. Such was the case for Ruby Rose on Thursday after Katy Perry released “Swish Swish,” a snappy anthem targeted at her rivals over the years, which may or may not include Taylor Swift. Nicki Minaj also appears on the track, spitting lines like, “From a shellfish or a sheep / Don’t you come for me / No, not today” and “You’re ‘bout as cute as / An old coupon expired / And karma’s not a liar / She keeps receipts.” Taking to Twitter, Ruby called out Katy for making “purposeful poop,” a play on Katy’s declaration earlier this year that she was entering an era of “Purposeful Pop” with her new music. (Ruby also takes down Katy’s other song “Bon Appétit” in the same tweet).

With the exception of Nicki’s verse, the song is a total fail, according to Ruby, who says Katy’s rebranding of herself is “a bummer,” alluding to Katy’s heavy involvement with the Hillary Clinton campaign last year:

In another tweet, Ruby reaffirmed that she will always remain loyal to “people I love.” This loosely translates to “I’ve got your back, Taylor,” right?

Without naming names, Ruby also revealed that she was bullied by someone “involved” in “Bad Blood,” which opens up a separate can of worms.

In early 2016, Ruby also defended Taylor after the release of Kanye West’s “Famous,” which featured the line “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why, I made that bitch famous.”

Later that spring, Taylor surprised Ruby at the GLAAD Media Awards and presented her with the Stephen K. Kolzak Award, which recognizes someone who has “made a significant difference in promoting equality and acceptance.”

Taylor has yet to respond to Katy’s new song but something tells me she has other things on her mind right now.
