Women dress themselves, and their man too
Shopping: a joyous exercise generally spent with
your best girlfriends and thought to be therapeutic and uplifting.
But wait, there's more. A new study has revealed women are the
real stylists behind their man's wardrobe.
British researchers have found a man relies on his wife or
girlfriend to buy more than half of his clothes.
Not only do we dress ourselves, and have a heavy responsibility
for our friends' choice of apparel too, but we also dress our men.
Come to think of it, this isn't surprising. Who hasn't bought their
man a gorgeous designer shirt in the hope he will trade it for his
favourite worn-more-than-20-times plain t-shirt.
The new research suggests women spend an average of two hours a
month, 24 hours a year or 40 days of a lifetime shopping for
clothes for their husbands and boyfriends. Compared with men who
spend on average 50 minutes a month, or 16.6 days in a lifetime. 40
days of a lifetime is a long time, that's more than a month spent
on shopping for a man alone.
The study also found 71 per cent of men preferred shopping online
to hitting the stores with a partner on a busy Saturday afternoon.
Well duh? This is because he knows too well he can stay home on the
couch watching the footy and you will not only bring home the
bread, a new pair of shoes for yourself and (because it was on
sale) a new jacket for him too...
Just another one of our many hidden talents, but of course we
don't care to take credit for it.
