After my first day at the extraordinary Cosmo office (which smells amazing by the way, with perfume wafting around every corner), everything on my to-do list at home seems a little...ordinary. By the end of this blog, you’ll understand why!
My day started with the Cosmo low-down from Cosmo’s features director Caelia, a tour of the office, and getting my Twitter and Facebook up and running. Plus, I wrote my first article (*huge grin*) which will be in the January edition of Cosmo!
But my day didn’t end there. In the afternoon I did a photo shoot (*huge grin just went to huger*...if that’s a word). Having my hair and makeup done was amazing. I watched the makeup artist very closely, hoping that if I observed her every move, somehow I’d be able to recreate the look she gave me (not a chance). However the best part about the photo shoot was the clothes, glorious clothes. Gorgeous, colourful dresses and heels. Yes, please!
After the photo shoot came the highlight of my day; I had the honour of meeting the Cosmoeditorial team (nervous much?). But as it turns out, when it comes to the Cosmo girls, The Devil Wears Prada is not an accurate representation – apart from the amazing clothes. They were all so friendly, funny and chatty, and did I mention their clothes? Oh the clothes.
To finish what was already a fantastic day, I was introduced to the cute Toyota Yaris. I never thought I’d say this, but driving in the city was actually a pleasure. Especially after I took a wrong turn and found myself gazing lovingly into the window displays of Gucci, Bvlgari, Chanel...
You know, for someone who has been wholeheartedly committed to the “I’m not going to win this competition so there’s no point in getting my hopes up” attitude, I really think I’m taking this "winning" thing quite well. That to-do list may be sitting there, nothing ticked off, for a little bit longer.
ED'S NOTE: Hi, Cosmo readers. Just a quick note on commenting - imagine you're at a party. A really nice, cool party where everyone is having fun, making intelligent conversation, drinking lovely cocktails and eating those fabulous mini boxes of fish and chips. Are you imagining? Good. At a party like this, you wouldn't say something nasty to someone you'd just met, right? Excellent. Let's do the same thing here.
Lauren
