My mag career can be credited in large part to Survivor. Yes, the reality TV show. During the last year of my journalism degree at the University of Technology, Sydney, I bumped into the editor of Shop Til You Drop magazine on Survivor Island (the one in Borneo from the first series) and when I got back to Oz, I started as an intern at the mag, graduated to freelance web editor, and after seven months I scored my gig at Cosmo. I’m now officially addicted to celebs (I get the shakes by Sunday afternoon if I haven’t checked in with Perez Hilton all weekend) and I relish being the first to know about every Hollywood hook-up, break-up, make-up and DUI arrest the millisecond it happens. Away from my desk, you’ll find me interviewing celebs in plush Sydney hotel suites, wearing the same pair of mini shorts to every music festival on the calendar, planning my next exotic diving holiday with my boyfriend, hitting the beach, trying to convince my touch footy team mates that I will indeed catch the ball if they throw it to me, sniffing out every last cheap vintage dress ever made, or DIY pedi’ing in front of The Hills

Foo Fighting Fun

Sarah gets cosy (sort of!) with Foo Fighters' frontman Dave Grohl

I had to tear myself away from deadline today to blab about my ah-maaaazing night last Friday. I was lucky enough to score ridiculously fab seats to the Foo Fighters' Sydney concert. Seriously, my seats were so close to the stage that I copped a few beads of lead singer Dave Grohl's hair sweat on the cheek (swoon). It was one of the best live shows I've ever seen - and trust me, I've been to more than a few.

Rather than belt out the hits, carefully inserting, ''Yeah, Sydney!'' into each chorus like most other touring artists, Dave was kind enough to have a good chat to the crowd. Okay, so he talked about drinking (a lot). Egged on by the punters, he also skolled a beer and belched; but the former Nirvana drummer really had an amazing stage presence. The band was tight, the lighting was great, and even after three hours, Dave was still singing. And swearing. But hey, he's a rock star.

Power to the Fooies!
Sarah xx

OMG I saw the foos in adelaide and they were amazing! My best friend and I were lucky enough to meet Nate (the bass player) by stalking them. No Dave but one day! Sophie- Adelaide  Report thisReport this

I also saw the Foos at their first Sydney show. I was on the floor and was lucky enough to have them play right in front of me when they did their acoustic set. It was a fantastic show. And yes I was one of the punters egging Dave on to skull his beer! Brilliant show, I recommend all to see them atleast once in your life!  Report thisReport this

This year, I will...

Warning: this is a cliched blog topic. If you'd like to steer clear of this January blogging ritual, please feel free to read yesterday's blog, which you might find a lot more interesting, if slightly less hackneyed. For the rest of you...
