The 2009 Glastonbury Festival has once again drawn in swarms of people from around the globe, with young and old enjoying the world famous musical festival in South-west England. About 140,000 music fans attended the three-day festival, which was marred by typically inclement weather, forcing the crowd to don the unofficial uniform of gumboots and raincoats to watch their favourite acts.
A wide range of performances have been highlighted, with Canadian rocker Neil Young closing the first day of the festival with songs from a career spanning more than 40 years. Lady Gaga's show featured multiple costume changes including a bustier that appeared to spit flames. That’s some crazy fashion!
Lily Allen also showed off her provocative side, with political statements, a wardrobe malfunction and a tribute to the late Michael Jackson, while wearing a symbolic white glove.
This years line-up included Australian performer Gabriella Cilmi, The Black Eyed Peas, and The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. As well as some old-timers such as Ray Davies and Bruce Springsteen and Status Quo; and festival favourites The Prodigy and Blur.
