Slip, Slop, App!

We all know sun cancer is one of the biggest killers in Australia, so it's important to be careful with our sun exposure. Now there's an iPhone app to help you track it. It's called the SunSmart app and it lets you know when UV levels are dangerously high and when it's OK to get a quick dose of rays to boost your vitamin D levels.

With a few clicks, you can find a seven-day weather forecast, the UV level and important sun protection times for your local area, so you'll always be prepared for the day ahead.

It also lets you personalise the alert function to tell you the daily sun protection times (as issued daily by the Bureau of Meteorology), either at a time of your choice or at the time when the UV reaches a certain level. Use the "vitamin D tracker" to find out if you're getting enough UV exposure for adequate vitamin D levels and try the "sunscreen calculator" feature that takes into account a person's size and clothing cover to tell the user what is an adequate amount of sunscreen for one full body application. Sounds pretty smart to us!
