Exercise blasts "fat genes"
New health research carried out at the UK's Medical Research Council has discovered that moderate exercise can zap "fat genes".
Scientists collected data from over 20,000 people and studied 12 different genetic variants that increase the risk of obesity and found that exercising for 30 minutes a day is the key to fighting genetic weight gain and avoiding passing weight issues on to your children.
Senior researcher Ruth Loos said: "Our findings challenge the popular myth that obesity is unavoidable if it runs in the family. We see this as a hopeful message."
