Raise the steaks
Welcome to the Paleo Diet, a lifestyle based on the lives of our (very) ancient ancestors, where raw meat, fruits, vegetables and nuts reign supreme, and dairy and complex carbs are shunned.
Professor Loren Cordain, author of The Paleo Diet, says the diet is far healthier than current Western eating patterns, and that our dependence on grains has led to the obesity crisis (among other things).
Detractors says the diet is just another fad, dismissing the supposed health benefits. Keri Gans, from the American Dietetic Association, says, "Let's think about how the cavemen lived. They didn't have very long lives. It's another gimmick of a diet."
