Diets can result in weight gain

On a diet? You could be gaining the grams...

We've all started a panicky diet at some point due to over-indulgence, but recent research has shown that four out of ten women who diet actually end up heavier than before they started watching what they eat.

The UK study showed that the average girl on a diet gained 5.2lbs immediately after reaching her target weight due to poor willpower or outside influences such as a less health-conscious partner or snacking colleagues.

Dr Ian Campbell from Jenny Craig said: "Successful weight management requires a long-term commitment in order to lose weight successfully and for good. Dieting can be a real challenge, so setting realistic goals and remaining focused on them is important.
Otherwise, as this research shows, women could end up heavier than when they started."
