Hunger causes insomnia

Do you often go to bed with a rumbly tummy? This could be keeping you awake...

New research published in a biology journal has revealed that hunger could be the root of insomnia because it makes your brain too alert to sleep.

Study author Matt Thimgan says: "
From an evolutionary perspective, this makes sense. If you're starving, you want to make sure you're on the top of your game cognitively, to improve your chances of finding food rather than becoming food for someone else."

So although experts say that it's not wise to indulge in a big, stodgy meal too close to snooze o'clock, a small bedtime snack does not cause weight gain and could help encourage a better night's sleep. Night night...
