We love dudes but we’re not against a little ego-boost at their expense! You see, there are some things in life we (we being ladies) are just better at. Fact. We know we’re awesome, but better yet, science says so too. Here are some of the ways we rock:
We’re smarter. According to a study of IQ tests from around the world, women consistently score higher marks than men. Do we get a gold star?!
We’re better at making a good impression under fire. A new study out of the University of Western Ontario found women are better at handling the stress of a job interview. We know how to make an impression without falling into panic, go us.
Women are better leaders. A leadership development consultancy firm Zenger/Folkman conducted a survey of 72,680 leaders. They were judged on 360 evaluations, which also considered the opinions of those working for them, with them and their own bosses. At every level, women were rated as better overall leaders. Not just by their evaluation grade, but in the opinion of their peers, bosses and co-workers too. So why aren’t there more women in top positions again?
We’re evolving hotter. Men are staying the same, but more gorgeous women are being born every generation. A study followed more than 2,000 people over 40 years and found that attractive women had 16 percent more kiddies than average-looking gals. Beautiful people were also 36 percent more likely to have a daughter as a first born. All those lovely daughters means more beautiful women in the next gen.
We’re cleaner. A study by San Diego State University found in the US men’s desks were messier and had 10-20 percent more bacteria. Ew.
We’re better at talking stuff out. If you’ve ever tried to pry a BF’s feelings out of him with a heart-to-heart, you know some guys bottle stuff up. So no wonder a survey found women are more likely to talk through their problems.
More of us graduate from uni. According to OECD statistics more Australian women graduate from tertiary education than men. Yiew!
A new study of 100,000 portfolios found women's investment returns outperform men's.
We’re more recession-proof. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 80 percent of those who lost their job in the US since 2007 were men. This is probably because male-dominated areas were the hardest hit. Or maybe we’re just awesome?
We eat healthier. Take a look at your boyfriend’s preferred meal and this really shouldn’t shock you. Beer and pizza, anyone? The University of Minnesota did a survey of 14,000 people and found women were more likely to choose healthier foods. And they give us grief about chocolate!
We have strong immune systems. A study by McGill University found estrogen helps gals gain an advantage in fighting off infections.
We live longer. We have a higher life expectancy by five years and the majority of people over 100 years old are women.
We're smarter investors. A new study of 100,000 portfolios by Barclays Wealth and Ledbury Research, found women's investment returns outperform men's, 18 percent versus 11 percent. They also found this was because we don’t take as many risks. Why are we more risk-averse? Apparently we’re not as overconfident as men.
We’re better drivers. In a study released by Quality Planning, an analytics company that validates policyholder information for auto insurers, women were found to be better drivers. Dudes break more traffic laws and take more risks, which means they cause more accidents and expensive damage. Shove that in his face, the next time he says you drive like his Nan!
Are you surprised? Or do these ring true for you?
