Cosmo Q&A

Hungry eyes

Sydney-based dietician Susie Burrell has a simple and resonant motto: "It's your food, your body and your life." True, it's our job to take care of our bodies, but sometimes it's hard to stay on the path to purity! Luckily, Susie's here to lend a healthy hand! Submit your questions below.

Question:

I always seem to get hungry after tea - for bread and biscuits etc. What can I do to reduce my hunger?

Answer:

Have you considered that you may not be eating enough at dinner? Sugar and carbohydrate cravings can occur when the intake of starchy foods is light; for example if your meals are just meat and vegetables. Try adding half a cup of wholegrain, low GI carbohydrates such as brown rice, pasta or potato to your main meal and see if that helps to relieve the sugar carvings.
