As it's the summer holidays (still in high school), I decided to get a job. I was hired by a coffee shop, not saying which one, and I had my first shift the other day. It was awful!
I've never worked in the food service industry, only retail, and it is SO stressful! The owners only recently acquired the shop, so they've got no clue what they're doing, and the other staff are all new, so everything's hectic and there's mass confusion as to what should be happening. There was supposed to be...

... a trainer helping me out, but she was nowhere to be found for the majority of the day. Whenever I asked her for help, she'd blow me off and tell me to wash dishes or take out garbage. So I asked the manager for help, and he got shirty with me because he was busy making coffee (which someone was supposed to teach me how to do on my first day, but it didn't happen). When I made a mistake, the manager would just yell at me for doing things wrong, and not actually tell me *what* I was doing...

... wrong or how I could improve! The customers were outreagously rude, and it caught me by such surprise because I've dealt with crabby customers before but these ones were so rude it reduced me to tears a couple of times, although I only cried in the stockroom or whilst washing dishes. My next shift's in a few days, and I'd rather set myself on fire than go back...
