Harry, Revised, by Mark Sarvas

I was wrong about Harry, Revised.
To be completely honest, I didn't expect to like it; a story about a 40-year-old man rediscovering himself. I had images of sitting through pages upon pages of a middle-aged crisis.
But like I said, I was wrong.
In a nutshell, Harry, our likeable, yet in some ways, misguided, "hero" is coming to terms with the sudden death of is wife who died while under the plastic surgeon's knife.
Naturally, he's devastated, but not in the way you'd imagine. Which is why his crush on Molly, the 20-year-old waitress from Cafe Retro, might seem a bit odd. Yet, it is this crush that propels him to makeover his entire life. But the question remains: why is his sister-in-law stalking him?
Harry, Revised is an entertaining read from the word go. It's a bittersweet debut from Mark Sarvas, and one that I recommend for that bit of escapism we sometimes crave.
