As you probably would have heard by now, Love Actually is getting a sequel in the form of a 10-minute featurette which will include many of the original cast members.
Filming is already underway, and photos of Liam Neeson, AKA Daniel and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, AKA that adorable little munchkin Sam reuniting on set will give you All Of The Feels.
We’re not crying, you are.
Oh, and guess who else was there? Olivia Olsen, AKA Joanna, Sam’s kid crush! Just eleven when she starred in Love Actually, she’s now 24.
Now, we don’t want to jump to conclusions … so we won’t. But this is all making us nostalgic AF and we can’t wait to watch when it airs in the UK on BBC1 on March 24 (and will probably hit the internet soon after).
As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter yesterday, Love Actually’s director Richard Curtis is making a 10-minute mini-sequel to the film set in 2017, set 14 years after the original took place. Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Bill Nighy, Liam Neeson, Andrew Lincoln, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Rowan Atkinson have all signed on for the project, although sadly Emma Thompson, Martin Freeman, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laura Linney and Rodrigo Santoro have unfortunately not.
And obviously, the late Alan Rickman. RIP.
There are a whole lot of loose ends to explore and potentially tie up in just 10 minutes, but we’re hopeful the writers and directors can do one of the best rom-coms (and Christmas movies) of all time justice.
This very exciting development is being made to support Comic Relief, a biannual fundraiser for Red Nose Day.
