There’s no need to stress out about being single on Valentine’s Day. If you’re unattached this year, congratulations – you don’t have to waste money on cards, chocolate, or an expensive dinner that will only make you dive into a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos an hour later. Gather your friends/dog/cat, turn on Netflix, and press play.
1. Magic Mike
Channing. Abs. Ginuwine. What more could you want? This is likely your 12th or 20th time watching Mike and the guys do their thing so you should have all the choreography and Channing jokes down by now.
Because nothing says love sucks (literally) than Robert Pattinson and his beautiful, sparkly bod.
If Clueless has taught me anything, it’s that it is possible to have age-defying skin and wear whatever TF you want, when you want — even if it’s yellow plaid with jumbo safety pins or the cartoon characters Amber always showed up as.
4. Working Girl
Is there anything better than strong women like Melanie Griffith, Wall Street office politics, and big ‘80s hair? (Bonus: Toast to Tess McGill when she says the line that gets new life in Fifty Shades Darker).
5. Finding Dory
Or, A Reminder That Finding Yourself Is More Important Than Finding a Man.
6. The Shining
There is nothing scarier than this movie. Not even being single.
7. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night
If Stephen King horror isn’t your jam, try this vampire western about a girl who does more than walk home alone at night. It’s in black-and-white, so the blood actually isn’t that scary. (It's beautiful).
Three words: Young Christian Slater. Three more words: “What’s your damage?”
9. Lila & Eve
Come for Viola Davis’ acting, stay for all the possible How to Get Away With Murder jokes you will have throughout the film.
10. Queen of the Damned
I know — this is the third vampire film on the list, but Aaliyah as Akasha will give you LIFE.
11. The Road
Nothing will toy with your emotions and warm your heart more than watching Viggo Mortensen and his onscreen son battle the bleak realities of a post-apocalyptic world.
12. Under the Tuscan Sun
To complete this movie experience, please book a one-way ticket to Italy as soon as the credits roll, then treat yourself to a gelato.
