Legally Blonde taught us some important life lessons, like that you’re not allowed to wet your hair for 24 hours after a perm, and that the best revenge you can get on a guy who dumps you for being “too blonde” is by being smarter than him.
Even though the original 2001 movie about pink-obsessed Elle Woods was everything, the 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, was a bit of a dud, but we’d happily welcome back Reese Witherspoon and co. for any future Legally Blonde movies they have in mind.
The good news? Reese is definitely down! During an interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden this week, the actress said she’d totally get back into Elle Woods’ amazing wardrobe for another round.
“I think it would be cool to see her 15 years later. Like, what’s she doing now?” Reese said. “What do you think? I don’t know. But I need a good idea.”
Tony Goldwyn, who was also a guest on the show, suggested, “[She could have] a Kellyanne Conway thing going on? Maybe she’s the leaker in the White House?”
Reese’s problem with this was, “People like Elle Woods, so…”
James offered this plotline: Elle Woods could be the first female president of the United States, which is something Reese has discussed before.
“She could! Yeah, yeah,” Reese agreed, before adding, “Or she could be a Supreme Court Justice? Or she could be a really great, powerful attorney? Or she could be in prison? She could be anything!”
“Anything” is pretty broad, but whatever storyline they go with, we we’re on board. Luke Wilson, who played Elle’s love interest Emmett, is also keen! So let’s just make this happen already.
Legally Blonde turned 15 last year, and to celebrate, Reese whipped out some of Elle’s most iconic wardrobe pieces to celebrate the movie’s anniversary.
She reminded us how to Bend and Snap.
Dusted off the bunny costume.
Still looks drop dead amazing in Elle’s pink sequined bikini.
And shared this important life mantra.
So yes, we are ready for more Elle Woods!
