Losing her religion

Katy Perry in religious scandal

Katy Perry

Katy Perry's catchy winter anthem, "I Kissed a Girl," has incited a hateful, homophobic religious warning from an Ohio church.

A sign displayed outside Havens Corners Church reads, "I kissed a girl and I liked it. Then I went to hell," attacking the lyrics of Perry's insanely popular song.

The church's pastor, David Allison, says the sign was intended as a warning to teens.

"If anyone's seen the video and understands how lewd and suggestive the video is for this song, that is not something young people should go toward."

Apart from not making any sense at all, Allison's warning is a little misguided: there's no actual kissing in the flim clip.

Saying things like that is not going to achieve anything- the way to get respect and understanding from people is to show them respect and understanding. Even if you don't agree with what someone says or does, you do not need to attack them, especially when that kind of behaviour from them is what you're reacting to.   Report thisReport this

Mel, Heterosexuals shove their behaviour down gays throat all the time....let's see...where shall I begin...Californication, O.C, any magazine, t.v, song... If you don't like the song, change the chanel - it's really quite simple.   Report thisReport this

Mel, it is people like you that make this world such a bad place to live. I have had hetrosexual behaviour forced on me since birth and have never complained. Live and let live - by the way, what is it that you are so scared of?  Report thisReport this

What should be kept out of your kids' faces MEL, is your bigoted, dated & derogatory attitude towards your fellow human beings. This "disgusting behaviour" by gays is not to blame for creating homophobia, people's lack of education & narrow perception of the world is.   Report thisReport this

And another thing, Mardi Gras is not "a parade to prove a point"; it is a festival to celebrate how far society has come to accept all people as equal, despite their sexual orientation. I hope your children have other people in their lives which are perhaps a little more worldly & accepting of humans for who they are, instead of raising them to be as prejudiced & intolerant as you.  Report thisReport this
