Why you are 20 per cent more beautiful than you think

Many women are insecure about their looks, but research has revealed that others actually find you 20 per cent more attractive that you actually see yourself. And no, we aren't talking about beer goggles here! Most people judge themselves purely on their appearance, without factoring in the effect their personality has - and that's where our true beauty lies, according to the experts.

Beauty and mind experts, Dr Debra Luftman and Dr Eva Ritvo have revealed the secrets to tapping that extra 20 per cent in their new book, The Beauty Prescription - The Complete Formula For Looking And Feeling Beautiful (Mcgraw-Hill). The main message? Realising that your physical appearance is only one part of what makes you attractive to others.

They believe that by taking into account inner beauty, health, outer beauty and environment - women will be on their way to finally feeling as attractive as the rest of the world finds them. Well, if focusing on doing things that make you happy (inner beauty), keeping in shape and eating well (health), taking time out to get your nails and hair done (outer beauty), and surrounding yourself with good friends (environment) is a prescription for beauty - we sure can't disagree with that!

The beauty of a woman should depend on how she feels about herself in a number of areas, and should never be dependent on another's opinion. Women give too much of their power (and self esteem) to men.

Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder but rather in the competition your up against. It's the same for guys and girls, if you hang out with people that look better than yourself your likely to feel your not very good looking and if your around unatractive people a lot then you will tend to feel you look better. Be warned though that people tend to conform so if you want to look your best then stay around people that try to look there best.

This whole topic makes me feel sick, & is sooooooo warped: AS per usual, everyone is fixated on "worshipping beauty" instead of focusing on something meaningful like career; friendship & the qualities in your heart; like really caring about other people, yourself, animals & the poor old planet Earth!!! When do we progress from 17th century values into the 21st century!! As for the money-hungry 2 who wrote thu stupid book.....
