A condom vending machine has been installed in Footscray Public Library in Victoria reports the Herald Sun.
BUT... before we get too WTF about it all, it’s all a bid to improve people’s access to condoms, which can only be a good thing.
In short, it doesn’t mean people are being encouraged to get jiggy amongst the books.
Women's Health West Chief Executive Dr. Robyn Gregory told theHerald Sunthe machine was put in the library as a result of a recent major increase in sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancies in the area.
They believe the vending machines will have a big impact on those numbers. If, at the end of 12 months, the machine has contributed to lower numbers, more vending machines will be installed around the county.
"Young men prefer to access low-cost condoms from semi-private places such as local parks, school toilets and shopping malls," Women's Health West told theHerald Sun.
We’re dubious they’d go on the hunt for cheap condoms in the library but time will tell…
