Fun, cheap summer dates
The weather is (graudally) getting warmer and it's time to start having fun in the sun! Here’s proof that having a blast with your boy this season doesn’t require draining your bank account.

9. Escape for Ice Cream. Both working 9 to 5 all summer? Sneak in a middle-of-the-day date by meeting up for an ice cream lunch. Grab a couple of cones at an ice cream stand, and head to the nearest green space to sit back, relax, and make out while they melt all over the place. -
10. Get a sunny outlook. Warm weather and sunshine have been proven to improve mood, boost memory, and inspire more creative thoughts. To reap the benefits, you have to spend 30 consecutive minutes outside. So grab your SPF, and head to the park. -
7. Channel your inner kid. Running through the sprinkler in your (private) backyard goes from silly to outrageously sexy when you do it topless with your guy. Buy a cheap sprinkler from a hardware store, attach it to your hose, and invite him out to play. If he resists, that’s when you peel off your bikini top. -
8. Eat out back. Sidewalk cafes are great for people watching, but secluded patios are more conductive to romance. According to industry trend spotters, more restaurants are now offering garden setting. To save dough, go for a later afternoon lunch. -
7. Go western. Since the craze started in Las Vegas, mechanical bulls are now popping up in bars and clubs around the country (find a cool – not skeevy – from doing a Google search). Show up in a pair of denim short shorts, and let your man see you ride. Watching your hips buck and roll will turn your cowboys mind to rush. -
4. Seek out subtitles. Cool movie theatres are no-brainers on hot nights. Instead of a mindless blockbuster, try a moody foreign flick with plenty of sexual tension so that you’re itching to get home the second it’s over. Coming to an art house near you this summer: Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, a French flick about the fashion designer’s affair with the Russian composer. -
5. Watch the moon come up.The rooftop of your apartment building can be the perfect setting for a moonlit make-out session. Find out what time the moon will be rising in your area (you can check online) then head up with a blanket (that you don’t mind getting dirty as hell on one side) and some wine to help set the mood. -
3. Dive In. Nothing puts you in the mood like staring at each other’s glistening, bathing-suit clad bodies all day. Don’t have your own pool? Hotels often sell day passes for as little as $5. Call around, and hit one up with your guy. -
2. Find the next Dave Hughes. Pick a Thursday night to see cheap stand-up comedy. Clubs boost the number of shows in Summer, and midweek tickets almost always cost less than those for Fridays and Saturdays. It’s more fun if you sit within heckling distance of the stage, so go early. -
1. Score Cheap Thrills. Save the money you’d blow at a theme park by heading to a retro-cool country fair or carnival. (Google your town’s name and the words carnival and fair to see your options.) Don’t skip high-speed rides like The Zipper – it’ll be a little more rickety than a big-park coaster, which is all the better for getting some libido boosting adrenaline racing through your veins.
