Men say 'I love you' before women
Always thought us girls were the first to declare our love in a new relationship? Perhaps not. Research from Pennsylvania State University has discovered that men (yes, you read right) are three times (again, yes, you read right) more likely to utter those three little words first.
Of the 171 heterosexual males under 25 interviewed 64 per cent admitted they had said "I love you" first. From this information scientists, and we savvy girls down at Cosmo, have concluded a number of things.
1. Women are more cautious in love, usually as a result of previous experiences.
2. Men are quicker to fall in love (87 per cent of the men surveyed agreed with this one!) with men taking just weeks to fall while women are able to hold out for months before admitting they've been bitten by the love bug.
3. Men quick to say "I love you" often have an ulterior motive, sex. According to the report "Any strategy serving as the means to a sexual end would be beneficial to men, including declarations of love."
So there you have it ladies. Don't be surprised to hear your man saying those three words so soon into the relationship, but you should also be aware he might have ulterior motives.
Tell us: who said it first in your relationship? Would you be sceptial if a guy told you that you were The One after a few weeks?
