Sarah Darmody, breast cancer fundraiser

Sarah is the prize-winning author of the novel Ticket to Ride – Lost and Found in America (2005). She worked as a journalist and film critic in the USA before returning home to write a book called Film: It's a Contact Sport (2002), and later contributed to the short story collection Take Me With You (2005).

Sarah, 31, is an ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and underwent a prophylactic double mastectomy in 2007 at the age of 29.

Sarah is the editor of the book, Thanks for the Mammaries, which was published in March 2009. All royalties from this book go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

    Wow, how truly inspiring. "Thanks for the Mammaries" is such a fantastic book. She is so selfless to write, edit, manage and then donate ALL the royalties. Talk about saying thanks!
