Masturbation Techniques To Help You Orgasm

Masturbation, much like anything in the bedroom, improves with practice — so we have some homework for you! These masturbation techniques are a sure-fire way to reach orgasm, and will have you thinking that you don’t ever need a partner to get your rocks off.

To make sure there is some ~serious~ science behind this, we spoke to Lovehoney’s resident sexpert, Jessica Wilde, to find out the best ways to reach that magic O, and the sex toys that can help you get there if you’re bored of the old fingers.

Now, go forth and wank your way to expert levels of masturbation!

Pinch & Pull:

With a generously-lubed clitoris, take your finger and thumb and gently pinch either side of your clitoris and stroke up and down (as you would imagine a guy would when masturbating). This puts direct stimulation on the sides of the clitoris, which is where you’re most sensitive.

Cha-Cha Slide:

The classic rub is probably one of the easiest to master, especially if you’re looking for added clitoral thrills whilst using an internal sex toy. To perform the Cha-Cha Slide, take one or more fingers and rub back and forth across your clitoris. Experiment with side-to-side, up-and-down and diagonal strokes as well as a range of firm and light touches to see what feels best. It’s recommended that you start slow and gentle, and build up the pace and pressure as you go.

The Circle of O:

This is very similar to the Cha-Cha Slide but involves circular motions around the clitoris, rather than back-and-forth straight strokes. Make these circles as tight or as wide as you like to vary intensity. This is a particularly good move if you find direct contact with your clitoris is too intense and like to maintain rhythm easily when you come to the ‘home run’.

Teasing is Pleasing:

Use your fingers to gently tease just inside your vaginal opening. Slip one, two or three fingers just inside of you and gently move in and out. Try to focus your attention on the area where your vaginal opening meets your perineum (the posterior fourchette). You might like to combine this stroking with some clitoral play to really heat things up. The goal is to create the sensation of being teased, rather than pumping away or trying and locate your G-spot.

Come-hither:

Now this is the technique that will stimulate your G-spot, if you can reach it. Insert your index fingers (2 or 3 being ideal) with your knuckles facing downwards and move them in a “come hither” motion. Your aim is to stroke the top inside wall of your vagina with your fingertips. As your G-spot becomes aroused it will swell, making it easier to locate and stimulate. Remember, the G-spot is about three inches inside you so there’s no need to go deep. Firm, persistent massage is key.

Ring Around the Rosebud:

This technique moves away from your ‘main’ genitals and focuses attention on the super sensitive areas of your butt. Ring Around the Rosebud involves absolutely no penetration; just gentle external stimulation. To try it, take a well-lubed finger and stroke around your perineum (the space between your genitals and your anus) and move towards your anus. Try different moves, from circling around the rim of your anus, to tapping, stroking back and forth or simply resting or pressing a finger against yourself. Focus on how your muscles contract and relax as you become more excited.

Vulcan Salute:

Did you know that some people can orgasm from nipple stimulation alone? Try it for yourself with this simple move. First, form a flat paddle with your hand of choice and part two of your fingers. Some people like to part their middle finger and ring finger (like a Vulcan Salute) whilst others prefer to pull their pointer finger away from their middle finger. Either is fine, but this pose should be soft, and the parting only small. Now, use this hand to grab your chest or boob, making sure that your nipple rests in the parting you’ve created between your fingers. This move strokes the sides of your nipples which can be a great way to explore nipple fun, without them getting too tender or sensitive. Now experiment with closing your fingers to create a gentle pinching sensation, or play around with stroking up and down or side-to-side to see what feels best for you.
