Samuel L. Jackson vs. the porn industry

The actor says free or pirated porn is the way of the future, and XXX actors are outraged.

At a recent Captain America: The Winter Soldier press conference one reporter asked Samuel L. Jackson to name one of the best pop culture achievements of the last fifty years. His response? “RedTube”.

For those of you who have no idea what that is… it’s a free porn sharing website. Like YouTube, but for porn. Apparently one of its biggest fans is Mr. Jackson.

His comments have outraged actors in the adult industry, who are currently going through the piracy issues the film and music industries have already battled with. They’re demanding an apology, and for Jackson to rescind his comments. Some are even encouraging fans to boycott his films.

Now, the #payforyourporn hashtag is a thing (there’s even a Twitter account dedicated to the cause). Though not everyone in the industry agrees with the backlash against Jackson’s comments…

Porn.com’s David Kay says, “The industry needs to adopt ‘Netflix’ pricing of $7 to $10 per month as opposed to the standard $39.95 monthly that you commonly see. We switched to this pricing years ago and are one of the few companies still flourishing.”

Somehow we think no matter what the outcome of the debate is, porn is never going to disappear completely. But in the meantime, you can support the industry’s cause by visiting individual actor’s websites rather than streaming and downloading for free. Your call…
