Turns out there are three types of porn users - which one are you?

Recreational, distressed or compulsive?

FUN FACT TIME: Last year PornHub (soz, but we're not linking out to them 'cos #NSFW) reported that y'all watched more than 4.6 billion hours of porn.

But science has done what it does best, and has realised that your porn habits reveal quite a bit about your personality.

Research conducted by the Université Laval in Quebec examined whether there are different types of pornography users, and determined whether it affects the participant's sexual well-being.

Undergoing the study were 830 participants. Approximately 71.8% were women, while 28.2% were men. The majority identified as hetrosexual (81.8%), while the rest with bixsexual (11.6%) or homosexual (5.8%), the Journal of Sexual Medicine reveals.

The outcome of the study found that the amount of time users would normally spend watching porn, divided them into three categories: recreational, distressed and compulsive viewers.

Recreational users watched an average of 24 minutes a week. The study found that these viewers were mostly women and people in relationships, and they scored low in regards to compulsivity and emotional distress.

Distressed users watched an average of 17 minute a week. However the study found that these individuals were left feeling shame, self-disgust and guilty after watching porn.

Compulsive users watched an average of 110 minutes of porn a week, and were mostly men. The study suggested that compulsive pornography habit likely compensate sexual interactions with a partner.

Which category do you fit into?
