A Redditor called noveltysin had an idea that I'm sure many folks have had sporadically throughout the day while staring at their Fitbits. She wore it during sex and shared the results to the forum r/dataisbeautiful.
Noveltysin's results detail what happens to her heart during approximately eight minutes of booty-bumpin' sex.
As The Throb points out, her results mirror a similar study done way back in 1956 that tracked hearts during sex. She highlighted key moments, including when her partner put a condom on, when she was on top, when they switched positions and of course when she climaxed. If you follow her graph, you can see that after about six minutes, her heart rate hits about 123 and she orgasms, with another orgasm shortly after. In the comments to her post, she explained more specifically what people were seeing on the graph. Noveltysin said she and her partner actually engaged in some foreplay beforehand, which doesn't show up on the chart, that helped her orgasm so quickly.
"Started after foreplay, so the preceding 20 mins are untracked," she explained when asked how she managed to orgasm at about six minutes in. When a bunch of dudes on Reddit started doubting that she could orgasm so fast, noveltysin shut them down quite beautifully.
"Man, now I gotta defend my orgasm to a bunch of strange dudes. Wait, no I don't," she said. (Ha!) For anyone else fixated on the "eight minutes" of sex, first of all, you've never had sex that you need to wrap up ASAP because your house mate is coming home soon/the pizza is almost here/the kids are about to wake up/[insert other pressing issue]. Noveltysin said her sex life is great, thank you for asking.
"Everyone focuses on the time," she said. "I lose track of it. Time stops. I'm happy." Plus, she has the aftershock to enjoy as well. "Mini orgasm after the main one," Noveltysin said when asked what an "aftershock" was. "Yay women parts."
Twenty minutes of foreplay, eight minutes of sex, and *two orgasms? That's a pretty good bang for your buck (heh). I think I know what I'm doing with my Fitbit this weekend.
