A women’s-only porn TV channel is here

Thought watching porn was just for guys? Think again! A female-friendly porn TV channel has just launched...

Women only porn is here

Watching porn has often been viewed as an activity strictly reserved for guys. Which is totally ridiculous when it’s been found that one in three women watch porn (yes, you read correctly).

And while female-friendly porn has come a long way in recent years (there are even Feminist Porn Awards dedicated to pro-women porn, seriously) mainstream male-dominated porn still rules the industry.

Until now, that is. Dusk! TV is a porn TV channel based in the Netherlands that provides female targeted films - and get this - it's now expanding to the USA. And you know what that means, right? It’ll probably be available all around the world very soon.

So what really differentiates this TV channel from the thousands of porn channels out there? According to Yvette Luhrs, program manager and porn researcher for Dusk! TV, it’s a whole lot more “realistic”. And by this, she means there’s a degree of emotional connection between the characters, the women featured have bodies of all shapes and sizes and it’s “made with respect.” Good, huh?

“We hope to serve an audience who’s not into classic male-oriented pornography but is looking for erotic film,” she says. “We want to create easier access to different representations of sexuality for a bigger audience,” explains Yvette.

While we’re fine with chicks watching and enjoying traditional porn (each to their own, right?), we reckon it’s awesome that women's specific needs are being acknowledged and met. It’s one for the sisterhood, right?

“Sometimes women really struggle to connect to mainstream porn because it lacks realism or any emotional involvement between the characters and it is often very degrading to women,” explains sex and relationship expert Isiah McKimmie.

And while in the past ladies might’ve been too embarrassed to tune into a women’s porn network – times are definitely a-changing.

“TV shows that discuss and portray real sex like Girls and Sex And The City, and erotic books like 50 Shades of Grey, have made it socially acceptable for women to be upfront and unashamed about getting enjoyment from watching porn,” explains Isiah.

While a women’s-only porn TV channel isn’t the biggest step towards bringing about more equality in the porn industry, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. Agree?
