Sex and cocktails...in the city
Caelia's star-studded week...
Everyone bangs on about how the magazine world is so G.L.A.M.O.U.R.O.U.S. though most of the time, it's actually not (think long days, short deadlines and too many meals eaten out of the vending machine), but this week I did experience a few moments of glamour that I just had to share...
I went to the star-studded Australian premiere of Sex and the City!
Yes, on Monday night, Cosmo editor Bron, deputy editor Jess and I rugged up and braved the miserable weather to head to Fox Studios in Sydney to see Carrie and Co in a film that surpassed even my sky-high expectations.
For those of you seeing the flick tonight or over the weekend, you will not be disappointed! I won't spoil a thing ... but let's just say Samantha gets the best one-liners, Carrie gets the best clothes, Miranda gets the most full-on sex scene and Charlotte gets her happily-ever-after. Awww….
Go watch, eat popcorn (they're selling it in a pretty pink Sex and the City shoe box!) and cry your eyes out (I did). So damn good.
And now to the cocktails...
Last night, deputy ed Jess, Cosmo's fashion director Nic and I were treated to an exceptionally divine "cocktail degustation" at the recently revamped Bondi restaurant, Sobo.
What is cocktail degustation, you ask? Well, after last night, I can tell you that it's the matching of gorgeous tasting cocktails to equally delicious canapé-style food where the flavours either complement or contrast with each other to perfection over five courses. Our favourites? The tempura soft shell crab with green papaya, Thai herbs and nham jim dressing paired with a fresh lychee, ginger and kafir-lime martini (I think there was a hint of apple in there too) and the prawn tortellini with leek and salmon roe, which arrived with Sobo's famous white peach Bellini.
Five cocktails sound like a messy exit? Don't worry ... we didn't leave the restaurant Lindsay Lohan-style.
Each cocktail is the equivalent of half a standard drink and comes in a perfect mini-glass, so you only have the equivalent of two-and-a-half alcoholic bevies overall.
The perfect treat before you head off to see Sex and the City with your girlfriends, perhaps? We have it on good authority some of Sydney's socialites will be doing just that tonight.
