Question:
I've just started seeing a guy and he never pays for me when we go out … I know it sounds old-fashioned but I kind of expect the guys to at least offer the first time we go to dinner! We spilt everything, even to the point of buying our own movie tickets … I'm an independent woman and I make money, but it's nice to feel a little bit special. Do you think he's uncomfortable with paying for me or just a tight-arse?

Answer:
Wow! This man sounds like he doesn't believe you're worth the cash he'd potentially spend on you! You're right - it is nice for men to make you feel special. But some men are confused about modern dating etiquette - and don't rule out the possibility he might have been burnt by a gold-digger in the past! Why don't you treat him to dinner and see if he reciprocates? If he doesn't, it's time to speak up and address the situation. If he values the relationship, he'll understand what you're getting at.
