Something serious
Did you know that one in three Australian women will experience physical or sexual violence in her lifetime? I didn't, until I read this statistic in a press release I was sent from The Body Shop last week.
When things like this are put to me in numbers and graphs I find it far easier to stomach. But, viewed from a probability point of view, three of my best friends from our close circle of nine could potentially put very real faces to this statistic. After I pondered it from this perspective I found this information concerning, and disgusting.
The global survey conducted by The Body Shop has shown that of the women experiencing domestic and sexual violence, 71 percent are more likely to confide in a friend rather than seek assistance from the police. Many women said they didn't even know where to find help and seek refuge from their violent relationship.
In an effort to educate and encourage women to take action, The Body Shop is offering free wallet-sized information cards for customers to take and share with girlfriends. The card features support options, advice, tips and contacts. These cards are available in stores, nationwide, now.
So, if you suspect a friend is in an unhealthy relationship, or you yourself are in a bad place right now, use this free (yet invaluable) information to reach out and get help. Props to this ethical beauty brand for making options on this topic easily accessible. The Body Shop, I salute you.
And now something not-so serious.
Revlon's new Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze has hightailed it up my fave lip-gloss list this week to first place! That's a pretty coveted spot if you don't know.
Contains lip-lovin' minerals that condition. Lasts eight whole hours. Comes in 10 pretty shades. Is practically "free" at only $21.95. Is officially heaven in a tube.
