Question:
I've just started to see a really great guy and I'm really happy. The only trouble is, whenever we go out we gorge on really indulgent, rich (and fattening!) meals. How can I make our restaurant dates healthier?
Answer:
Gaining weight during a relationship is an issue for many as we let ourselves go and the toast for dinner is replaced with pizza, chocolate in front of the TV or, of course, eating out. The best thing you can do is be honest with your new boyfriend and let him know that you cannot eat rich, high-calorie food too often or you will gain weight. The trick is choosing restaurants that have lighter options, including Thai, where you can order mixed vegetables and stir fries or grills, and Japanese, which has numerous light options. Save the high-fat three-course meals, Indian, pizza and fried foods to a once-a-week treat to prevent weight gain becoming an issue.
