The world's hottest hotels

Put these hotspots on your must-do list

Want to slip away to somewhere more comfortable? Bill Tikos, author of cult blog The Cool Hunter, has selected the world's ten hottest hotel rooms.

Hotel Home, Argentina
Go there for: Argentinian cokctails, the shallow pool and the private rooftop terrace.

Hotel Puerta America, Spain
Go there for: the quirk factor. Optic fibre in the walls of the eighth floor traces guests' movements and creates unique patterns.

Bay of Fires Hotel, Tasmania, Australia
Go there for: natural wonders. Surrounded by coastal waters, national forests and cliff faces, this isolated eco-friendly hotel is a great escape. Warning - you will be required to exert yourself: guests must participate in four days of walking to soak up the surrounds.

Hyatt Regency, Kyoto, Japan
Go there for: the redefinition of personal service. Get the Ishoku Dogen package and be treated to an acupuncture consultation, tailored meals and even a tea made just for you.

Riva Lofts, Florence, Italy
Go there for: the quaint charm of a bed and breakfast combined with haute design and 21st century luxuries.

Vigilius Mountain Resort, Lana, Italy
Go there for: total isolation. The resort is only accessible by a seven-minute cable car ride up the side of a mountain. If you really want to get away, this is the ultimate destination.

Mykonos Theoxenia, Mykonos, Greece
Go there for: retro glam. Mykonos has long been the playground of the rich and restless, and this hotel combines seventies ritz with noughties sophistication.

Hotel Particuliar, Paris, France
Go there for: a completely unique experience. Each room is themed (the Poets Room, anyone?) and the entire hotel can be booked out - so you and all of your friends can decide which room you're best suited to, natch.

DO & CO Hotel. Vienna, Austria
Go there for: understated luxury. White furniture, hardwood floors and a completely unhindered view of St. Stephen's Cathedral make this hotel a must-visit.

Hotel Basico, Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Go there for: the ultimate beach getaway. The reception desk doubles as a juice bar, each room has a view of the Caribbean and every guest receives a beahc ball, flippers and a floating tyre on arrival.
