21. The start of a new path.
This past Thursday I turned 21. What a scary age. Well and truly out of my teens and realising that the time to grow up is drawing nearer. I have recently accepted a job in the CBD of Melbourne, where I will start on the 30th of April, I am faced with moving out of home and being out there in the big bad world all by myself. Yes, this year will be my year of change. However, to kick off my 21-ness, I decided to do whatever the heck I wanted. Thursday night was crazy. A few drinks, good music, a cute boy and some of my best friends provided me with a night I will not soon forget. Friday, after waking up feeling surprisingly fresh, my dear friend took me to the zoo. I ran around cooing at small animals and staring in awe at the large ones (espeically the lions. They are AMAZING!). I waddled like a penguin and ate my body weight in junk food. It was great to just forget about being a grown up for a day. A quiet night in capped Friday off perfectly, and I was up bright and early on Saturday for a full buffet breakfast at Restaurent No. 35, on the 35th floor of the Hotel Sofitel on Melbourne's Collins St. At $40 a head ($20 if you are lucky enough to have an A Club Advantage Plus card like me!) the food and the view is well worth it. (Ladies, the eggs benedict is to die for!) After breakfast we went for a lovely stroll along Southbank, to the Crown Casino, where we wandered around watching people and window shopping in sotres I only wish I could afford. Lunch was "gourmet nachoes" (I didn't understand either) and then it was off to a more affordable area for shopping. With my bags considerably heavier, and my wallet much lighter, the time came to farewell my dear friend and get ready to go see one of my favourite bands. What a crazy night! Scratch that. What a crazy weekend! Needless to say, I was more than happy to curl up in my own bed finally after getting home on Sunday night.
What a way to start my new journey in life. Good food, friends, shopping, cute animals (and boys) and more than a few good wines. Being 21 isn't so scary after all!
