As we expected, we woke up to rain – so we got the day off!! We got to have a sleep in and hang out in the room. The rooms at the Kawarau Hotel were awesome, full of natural light and a separete lounge room to sleeping area. They even have a inroom kitchenette.

Everyone wanted to check out Wanaka, so we decided to go on a bit of a road trip.

But first we stopped for coffee in Queenstown at Vudu Cafe – awesome coffee! – at 23 Beach Street.

We also found an amazing vintage store, Gently Used Clothing (Bay Centre, 69 Beach Street, Queenstown). Cath the owner was kind enough to let us borrow some awesome vintage suitcases for our ’70s shoot the next day. Cath also rents for special events, if you ever find yourself in Queenstown and needing an outfit.

We had lunch by the lake in Wanaka, a cool town and definitely worth checking out.

We happened to be in Queenstown at the same time as Fashion Quarterly NZ, so our two crews combined and had a massive dinner at Botswana Butchery (17 Marine Parade, Queenstown).

We also ran into Maria Kuzma a Wanaka local and a pro snowboarder sponsored by ROXY. We asked her a couple of things about her self and if she could give us some local tips!

How long have you lived in queenstown? Wanaka (aka Queenstown area) since 2005.

Where are you originally from? All over the place! Parents are, Mum: half Philippino half Spanish. Dad: half Scottish half Polish. Grew up in Papua New Guinea, Jakarta, then Borneo, then a little stint in Australia now in New Zealand, and here to stay!
