The Do's and Don'ts of Festival Beauty
I’ve always been far more interested in beauty than fashion. When festival season comes rolling around each year, I see my friends watching the weekend forecast, wondering if they’ll still be able to pull off denim shorts, while my main concern is always whether or not I need to invest in a new waterproof mascara.
That said, I’d like to think I’ve learnt a bit about what to do, and not to do (yes, I’ve had my share of disasters) at a music festival. So, with memories of Stereosonic still fresh in my mind from the weekend, let’s get started:
DON’T: Wear instant tan. Even if it’s not expected to rain, a stray spilled drink can leave you embarrassingly patchy.
DO: Tan the night before. Better yet, start using a gradual tanning product a week before the big day.
DON’T: Wear bright lipstick. Nothing looks worse than seeing a girl seriously smudged after a big day.
DO: Experiment with your eye makeup and/or nails. This is a day where you can get away with pretty much anything, so keep it classy, fresh and have some fun!
DON’T: Pack on the foundation, or bronzer. Sweating while wearing makeup is bad news for your skin, so consider your face’s feelings and apply lightly.
DO: Wear primer. Last Saturday night, a stranger asked me why my face still looked fresh. To a beauty gal, this is a huge compliment – especially after a few hours of dancing in the sun. If I thought she actually wanted to know, I would have told her it was all in the primer.
DON’T YOU DARE… “forget” to wear sunscreen. Or you’re banned from reading my blog, forever.
And what a shame that would be.
