Inspiration for your special day
It can get a little overwhelming, planning a wedding – after all, it’s one of the most important days in our lives. My suggestion? Put together a collection of your favourite things and plan your day around these. Here’s a little example:
1. Glossy inspiration: Cosmopolitan Bride Magazine is packed full of info (me, biased?) on the best wedding venues, honeymoon locations, flowers, cakes, dress inspiration, styling, beauty tips and more! So get yourself a copy before you do anything else.
2. Stylish stationery: Polka dots and pastel pinks make up a sweet wedding colour and pattern scheme. Think pink gingham tablecloths, polka dot patterned paper (cristinare.com) invitations and menus. Japanese washi tape (etsy.com/shop/craftyjapan) and bakers twine (littlepaperlane.com.au) also come in handy.
3. Decorations: Tissue paper flowers are easy to make and can be used to decorate a garden ceremony or reception. A set of vintage looking tea cups and saucers (t2tea.com) can double as a table decoration on the day and be used as a high-tea set for special occasions after the wedding. Adorn a birdcage in lush greenery to make a unique place for guests to write and hang their well wishes. 4. Flowers, feathers & fragrance: One of my favourite flowers is Japanese Cherry Blossoms which can be used for a bridal bouquet or for reception flower displays. Feathers (philomenakwok.com) are the new alternative to flowers and make great hair accessories for you or your bridesmaids. Buying a wedding perfume will come in handy in the future, as each spray will remind you of your wedding day. I like wedding designer Elie Saab’s La Parfume and Hilary Duff’s With Love. 5. Celebrations: No party is complete without confetti! Get some from Spotlight (spotlight.com.au/departments/spartys). Thank your bridesmaids for their support with a luxurious pampering gift from MOR (morcosmetics.com). Use Donna Hay’s easy bake macaron pack (donnahay.com.au) to make macaron bonbonerie for your guests or order a macaron tower (adrianozumbo.com/macaron-tower) for your reception. 6. Atmosphere: Watch your favourite wedding movies for inspiration. ‘Father of the Bride is one of my faves for its wedding location in a big beautiful house. Try (escholparkhouse.com.au) and (hht.net.au/venu 7. Transport: Add a fairytale element to your day by hiring a http://uniquecarriages.com.auvintage horse and carriage for your getaway transport. Don’t forget to wave to the crowd from the back of the carriage as you depart!
