There is a lot you can to with a bit of tape …
Japanese washi tape that is! As you might have noticed from my last two posts, I am pretty obsessed with the stuff, and for good reason. Washi tape is a decorative tape made from rice paper that comes in a range of colours and patterns. It can be put on any surface and is easy to peel off making it somewhat reusable. It really is my number one craft tool, and I’m sure it will become a creative bride’s new BFF because you can use it for just about anything.
Here are a few wedding related things you can do with it:
- A garland to decorate your reception which can be made by sticking washi tape strips over bakers twine.
- Make toothpick flags for cupcakes by attaching washi tape to a toothpick and cutting a triangle out the end of the tape.
- Decorative wall decals. Use tape to write letters, shapes etc.
- Wrap it around your flower bouquet … if you’re extra clever you can make flowers out of it too!
- Adding decoration to invitations, place cards, menus, favours, wooden cutlery, vases, photo albums/scrapbooks
Here’s where you can buy it from;
- UgUisu (uguisu.ocnk.net)
- Crafty Japan (etsy.com/shop/craftyjapan)
- Cute tape (cutetape.com)
- Kinokuniya (kinokuniya.com.au)
- And most independent stationery stores.
Experiment and have fun with this new decorative tool!
