Beauty on the move
Moving is the anti-Christ. I have moved house ten times in the last six years. That is not an exaggeration. Most recently, on the weekend. Can you even imagine what that entails for a beauty editor and her bathroom? I might sound like I am bragging, but owning a copious amount of products quickly becomes a burden when they need to be transported. Then the blessing becomes a curse.
Now that I’m a veteran packer-er and mover-er, I feel I can safely say I’ve got some grand insider tips when it comes to compiling a concise beauty product wardrobe;
Always finish a product before starting on a new one. Having 486 almost-finished tubes and bottles that make home at the back of your cupboards is a waste of space
Write a shopping list before heading to buy new beauty stuff. Often you’ll make it to the supermarket, stock up on razors, only to realise you have thousands in the draw back home.
Throw out stuff you don’t use. It all expires anyway. Sunscreens need to be replaced each year (last summer’s stuff is no good), and turf those products you bought but decided you didn’t like.
Invest in multi-use products. A gradual tanner, for example, kills two beauty birds with one stone. Same goes for detanglers which contain heat protectant, lip and cheek stains, all over balms. If it has more than one purpose, it is your fiend.
Pay it forward. When moving, donate products you don’t want to friends and family. They’ll be totes grateful and you’ll be moving a lighter load.
Happy packing, beauty junkies!
