Wine and dine me
For me, the best part of a wedding, besides celebrating the joyous occasion with the newlyweds of course, is the food and wine. If you think about it, one of the most common things guests talk about after a wedding is whether the food was good or bad.
While the days of really bad wedding food are thankfully behind us, it’s still tricky to cater for so many different people with different tastes and you’re always bound to have picky guests, like Uncle Barry who only ever eats steak and chips. Ever. But at least you can rest assured that pretty much everyone likes to let loose with a drink at the reception, even Uncle Barry!
I’m a wine kind of guy, whether it be red, white or sparkling, and the first thing I do when I get to the reception of a wedding, is find my glass and fill it up! So you can imagine how excited I was when I was recently invited to the opening of Lindeman's 1843 Harvest Café in the Hunter Valley, NSW. A visit to wine central? I couldn’t RSVP ‘yes please!’ fast enough!
The cafe is an amazing place to visit with loved ones and friends to simply enjoy the food, (the selection of gourmet wood-fired pizzas and the sweet treats they have to offer is amazing!) and to sample some beautiful wines – I was like a kid in a candy store!
While sitting there eating and drinking to my heart’s content, I couldn’t help but think that the winery would be a great place for a bucks weekend – not only do you have an endless supply of alcohol, but in my opinion it’s much classier than a strip club. The staff also told me that they offer a wedding package – a wedding at a winery? I’m so there!
They have a beautiful ceremony area and a function room that can cater for up to 375 people. Add the breathtaking surroundings of the Hunter Valley and you have yourself a gorgeous wedding! Plus, your guests will love you for giving them the perfect excuse to escape their busy lives and enjoy a weekend filled with food, wine and friends. You can’t get any better than that!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, my glass needs refilling...
