can't choose your family

Almost a year ago i started seing this guy, we had met once before at my former boyfriends party but this time i was single. We were really into eachother. we slept in his bed together minus the hanky panky and it continued on from there.

Turns out my sister (who is already in a commited relationship) had a little crush on him. This eventually caused a lot of problems with him and my family and from that problems with me and my family.

My family and i have always had issues, life isn't easy. i was in love with him by the time my mother told me to get rid of him. I said no and moved out.

It's been three months since then, we've had our issues but we've sorted them out. He has become not only my lover but my best friend. I can't help but wonder though if i made the right decision. should i have loved him or lost him?

Hi Molly_94 I can't say if you should love him or lose him because I don't know the details like what he did to make your family dislike him. All I know is that every family has issues but at the end of the day they only want what's best for you so you have to look at it from their point of you. With that said only you can truly tell if you love your boyfriend and if he loves you so if he genuinly makes you happy than that's all that matters. I'm sure over time your family will understnand and accept him because he makes you happy. But let me tell you I've been there before and after 4 years I realised my ex was kind of an escape from my family. So just be true to yourself and it will all work out. All the best!!!
