My Day My Way

My Day My Way
What was I looking for: I wanted a traditional wedding with accents of our creative flair. I wanted my guests to be entertained at all times. For this reason, we chose to have a photo-booth, vintage games on the lawns, a candy table and the band Winter Cherry. I wanted a wedding that people would remember for being fun, beautiful and a little bit different. Best Part: The best part of my wedding was seeing Matt at the alter for the first time. As much as you try to prepare yourself for “That Moment”, you still have no idea how exciting it is, until you are standing there, gazing into the eyes of your husband-to-be. A very close second was of course, the dress. Liza Emanuele did an amazing job! Traditional Elements: Being a traditionalist at heart, I had to have something, old, new, borrowed and blue. I wore my late Nanna's engagement ring as something old. Unfortunately she died a few months before the wedding so having the ring so close to me all day, made me feel like she was there. For something borrowed, I borrowed a lace hanky from my Auntie that she had on her wedding day. Colour palette: For as long as I can remember, I was going to have a pastel, multi-coloured wedding. I can even remember a conversation with both my bridesmaids Nadia and Amelia years ago, declaring that Nadia would always be the yellow girl and Amelia pink. I wanted all my girls to be different and have an input in their colour and design. What looks good on one person can look terrible on another, so the colours were handed out to match each bridesmaid. The dresses were also designed to match the girls taste. Each dress perfectly complimented the girls in both colour and design.

Theme of wedding
We decided to go for a chic & vintage theme. We used accents of rustic birdcages throughout Carrick Hill and as table centrepieces. We kept the theme flowing with vintage games on the lawns. The colour theme was based around the bridesmaid’s dresses of Pale Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue and Lavender. The flowers also represented the vintage theme, emulating an English garden with lots of Peonies of course.
Dress style
I had a couture gown made by Liza Emanuele. The dress was metres and metres of silk organza ruffles detailing the bottom of the dress along with a two-meter long train. The bodice was covered in French lace scattered and accentuated with Swarovski crystal straps and detachable Swarovski crystal belt.
Dress code
Black Tie
Hair style

Flowers description
The wedding bouquets were a mixture of various flowers that consisted mainly of Peonies (my favourite flower) and David Austin roses. My bouquet was an assortment of white flowers while the bridesmaid’s bouquets were various colours to match the colours of their dresses. The colour scheme of the bridesmaid’s flowers was also carried through to the reception. We had different centrepieces for each table at the reception. We had an assortment of birdcages with surrounding coloured flowers and larger centrepieces with beautiful blue delphinium to give extra height and dimension.
The ceremony description
The moment that stood out for me at my ceremony was just before walking down the aisle. We had the Mercedes School Choir, a Pianist and String Trio for our ceremony music. We had chosen an arrangement of November Rain (Guns N Roses) for my processional. Being a child of the 90's, I have always loved that song, the film clip and always dreamed of a “rock star” entrance like that. It could not have been more perfect. I was pretty calm and collected until the music started, then the nerves really set in! We also had an acapella version of 'I Say a Little Prayer' as our recessional and a beautiful version of 'Something' by the Beatles, sung by the choir and accompanied by the string trio and pianist. The musicians were so good, they almost stole the show!
Decorations description
We had a photo-booth, with a custom made backdrop, a delicious candy table with loads of sweet treats and vintage games of Croquet and Bocce to play on the lawns of Carrick Hill.
Cake description
The cake was a chocolate gateau wedding cake served with berry coulis and vanilla cream.
Favours description
I had muslin favour bags with our logo hand-stamped on them and twine in the different colours of the bridesmaids. These were purchased from Etsy.com. The guests were then able to fill their bags with a variety of flavours of Macaron's, Truffles and all sorts of lollies in ornate glass jars which were located on a candy table.
Cost
$50,000
