I LOVE this city!
Hey girls, I hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays and returning to work hasn’t been too much of a shock! Although if it has I have the perfect thing to brighten up your weekend!
For all of those lucky enough to live in, or close to, Sydney I’m sure you’ve seen advertisements for the Sydney Festival 2012 and I was lucky enough to make my way into the city on their First Night to see some amazing stuff!
My evening started with a once-in-a-lifetime performance by Geoffrey Gurrumal Yunupingu in the Domain. Blind since birth, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu is a member of the Gumatj clan of northeast Arnhem Land. He is a two-time winner of both Arias and Deadlys and has already made a huge contribution to the Australian music industry. Performing in a mix of Yolngu and English, Gurrumul is a voice unlike any other!
Had my ears not been treated to enough on my way back through the city my eyes got to see the spectacular Guerilla Lighting installations set up in Martin Place.
Words cannot do either of these events justice so instead I suggest you get off your computer and get yourself into the city to see some of the more mind-blowing talent and spectacular sights on offer! Open until the 29th of January there is plenty to see and do. For more information head over to their website to see a whole list of fabulous, FREE events coming up over the next few weeks!

And if you were lucky enough to be there on the First Night, or if you’ve made it in to see any of the other amazing nights, let me know what you think. What was your favourite event? What would you like to see more of next year? Or is there anything you think is missing?
