Rooney Mara - what you should know!
Rooney Mara is rapidly conquering Hollywood, one hit film at a time. To keep you up-to-date with this new ‘It’ girl here is a list of things you probably don’t know about her but should!
- Rooney may be towering over Hollywood but she is just 5”3 tall
- She was actually born Patricia Rooney Mara
- She oversees the charity Uweza Foundation, which supports empowerment programs for children and families in the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya, one of the largest slums in Africa. He even founded her own non-profit organisation Faces of Kibera!
- She is a descendant of USA football royalty. The actress is the great-granddaughter of both New York Giants founder Tim Mara and Pittsburgh Steelers founder, Art Rooney, Sr., Her uncle, John Mara, is the current co-owner of the Giants and her father Timothy Christopher Mara is the Vice President of Player Evaluation for the team.
- Rooney didn’t even have her ears pierced before filming The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo – but for the movie decided not to fake it! She got four piercings in each ear, her nose, her eyebrow and even her nipple pierced (which she has left in for when filming of the sequels begins!)
- Not only did she have to fill her body with holes, Rooney also had to wear a strawberry-blonde merkin in the many nude scenes of the film
- You may remember her face from the supportive role she played (as Mark Zuckerburg’s girlfriend Erica Albright) in The Social Network. Their ‘break-up’ scene took 99 takes and covered eight pages of script!
