My Day My Way

My Day My Way
From the moment we started planning our day we wanted it to be relaxed and fun with a touch of romance. I wanted to make sure that the planning did not take over our lives and take away from the most important part of our day which was the two of us promising to support and love each other for the rest of our lives. I am an organised person, so everything was planned in detail and on time and at the same time wanted to keep everything simple, on budget and with not too much fuss. Only two main hiccups leading up to the day including the jeweller engraving the wrong wedding date on my wedding ring and having a spray tan the day before the wedding, waiting the required dry time and then watching it all come off in the shower and having to go back to the beauticians after our church rehearsal that evening to have it redone! The whole day was wonderful with so many favourite parts. I loved having all of our siblings involved in the day, seeing Glenn waiting for me at the end of the aisle as I walked into the church, my cute purple shoes, the fact my husband to be took some dance lessons before our big day so that we had a little routine for our bridal waltz that wowed our guests and of course the chocolate fountain for dessert was yum.

The main colour for the wedding was purple. The reception was romantic and elegant with ceiling fairy lights, white linen on the table but also fun with large glass bowls filled with lollies being the table centre pieces (which were a hit with guests).

I had done a beginners cake decorating course and decided to have a go and make my own wedding cake! My mum made the fruit cake for the top and I made the bride and groom cake toppers plus our golden retreiver! We then had vanilla and orange cupcakes in purple wrappers with white icing and purple hearts on top. The cake formed part of the dessert for the evening as well as a chocolate fountain.

Purple stubby coolers that we had designed ourselves that included a photo of our bride and groom cake topper that I had made myself. The stubby coolers also had each persons name on it which served as the place cards.
